About Me

My Photo
My name is Suzy. My first guide dog was Mirage, she retired to Mari in February 2013. Pilgrim is my second guide dog. We are graduates of Guide Dogs for the Blind.I have a progressive degenerative genetic eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa and I see as if through a keyhole. I am thankful for my remaining eyesight. I appreciate the companionship and mobility Mirage and Pilgrim bring to my life.

Tired

Ragi roo is just plain tired; tired physically because she's a black long haired lab and about 65 in human years. After a normal day (for me) she's wiped out.
I love seeing her work hard and rest deeply!
She always gives her all.
I am sure I want her to have some years of FREEDOM to relax and enjoy being a dog.
To be so GREAT a dog genetically speaking and have such integrity and work ethic is rare.
She is extremely calm, focused and disciplined, thanks to Ellery who was her puppy raiser.
Today , a difficult conversation with Malinda, my graduate services rep. I know it's coming. . . . Her career change. I just want the timing to be right.
In the Summer the heat is challenging and the light is good for me to see beyond her shortcoming.
Come Winter, my life slows and she'll be sidelined. Maybe then the time will be 'right' to return her to her First Lady. Her first love, EllerY.
There will be grief. And a period of
Time to return to my cane skills and breathe in Gratitude, then reapply for a second guide.
Mirage is in good health now so what is it that retired guide dogs DArEAM of?

What a good dog, a comforting way to caress your pet. Do you give him any supplement? Like dog probiotics and other pet supplements available in the market.
