About Me

My Photo
My name is Suzy. My first guide dog was Mirage, she retired to Mari in February 2013. Pilgrim is my second guide dog. We are graduates of Guide Dogs for the Blind.I have a progressive degenerative genetic eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa and I see as if through a keyhole. I am thankful for my remaining eyesight. I appreciate the companionship and mobility Mirage and Pilgrim bring to my life.

Dog sitting

Three weeks have passed. Mari wrote to ask if I'd like to see Mirage. . . . Hmmmm.
I was Afraid I would cry! I wondered about my feelings. "Am I moving from Love or Fear", is a good way to ferret out the truth:) Obviously fear was my pathway. So I decided to move from Love! What a better outcome: I will let her know All is well and show her how much I will Always cherish her.
I was happy to greet them and eager to feed and walk her while Mari shopped for groceries at New Seasons.
Mari told me she thinks Mirage is so Smart! I loved hearing how their day is. Waking at 6:45, showering, hair are and dressing , THEN Mirage is fed and they go out. A ride through Starbucks for a cup and a doggy treat, then settling in at work until noon is standard! Mirage's clock is set precisely for each event as scheduled;) I loved that clock of hers too;)
When Mari returned Mirage gazed up at her, there was no backward glance:) she did however return to her Guide work, waiting at the top step for a kibble from Mari. Mari probably said, "Silly Dog, hop in the car;)" she did and off they sped.
That's when the tears fell.
It is so different without her.
